Washington – Horsethief Lake State Park
Washington
Horsethief Lake State Park
September 2009
We are camped at Horsethief Lake State Park in Washington. We’ll be in this area for a few more weeks so that we can finish up doctor and dentist appointments. Some time in mid-October, we’ll be heading south again so stay tuned for new adventures!
Horsethief State Park is in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. We are in a small campground with only eight campsights. It is very pretty here, but unfortunately the wind howls through here half the time. I guess that is why this area is known for great windsurfing.
Here is our campsight at Horsethief.
This is the view from our campsight.
A lot of people come and climb the bluffs around horsethief.

There are many pictographs and petroglyphs on display here also.

This is the most famous one of all. It is Tsagagalal; also known as She Who Watches.

We always enjoy staying at Horsethief. It’s small, quiet and close to the old home town.
